  10.      Hello and welcome to the exciting world of AccessNet!  AccessNet was
  11. established on April 10th of 1991.  What makes AccessNet different is that
  12. professionalism and quality come first.  AccessNet has the friendliest group of
  13. SysOps whose collective concern for friendliness and fun, keeps the callers
  14. coming back for more!  <smile>
  15.  
  16.      AccessNet is just like cable TV:  We offer 15 general type conferences and
  17. an Internet EMail address as part of our "basic" package (NOTE: currently, only
  18. those using RoseMail software or a UUCP program can have an Internet Email
  19. address).   On top of the basic group, we offer the "extended" conferences.
  20. These are specific UseNet newsgroups that you choose to carry.  Other than the
  21. initial, ONE TIME, $15.00 registration fee, the basic AccessNet package is free.
  22. If you wish to carry any of the UseNet newsgroups, there is a very reasonable
  23. fee that you will pay to your Hub.  AccessNet is a not-for-profit network.  For
  24. a complete list of all available conferences and newsgroups, please refer to
  25. ACCESSNT.LST.  For more information on the pricing of UseNet newsgroups, please
  26. refer to USENET.$$$.

  28.      The purpose for creating AccessNet was simple.  We believe that
  29. participating in net-mail should be one of the most fun and exciting activities
  30. of BBS'g!  There are many netmail networks out there that somehow leave you
  31. feeling humiliated.  From the obnoxious to the primadanas, SysOps who don't
  32. care enough about their supporting Nodes.  Without the necessary support,
  33. setting up and maintaining a netmail system can be a frustrating task.   We,
  34. however, care about each and every participating BBS, whether they are a Node,
  35. Hub, or a Regional Hub!
  36.  
  37.      We currently use PostLink and RoseMail software to transfer our mail.
  38. NOTE: In order to make AccessNet more widely available, any compatable QWK
  39. format system will be OK to use!  Both PostLink and RoseMail are designed for
  40. PCBoard systems; however, there are many UTI drivers available to make PostLink
  41. compatible with other BBS systems.  RoseMail will be coming out with a version
  42. (very soon) that will be compatible with a wide variety of popular bulletin
  43. board systems without the need for a UTI driver.  The big plus about RoseMail
  44. is that it is FREE to all PCBoard SysOps!  Although not official yet - it is
  45. said that it will be FREE to ALL SysOps (when the general version comes out).

  47.      Both programs are versatile and user-friendly net-mail systems.  Either
  48. is setup as a door on your BBS... Not as a front door!  (Upon connecting
  49. with a BBS - one should not have to 'hit escape' to log on!  Most people who
  50. are calling a board are calling to utilize the BBS...NOT to transfer mail.)
  51. As an internal door, PostLink or RoseMail will never annoy your users!
  52. Other features of both systems include:  the ability to send and request
  53. files, manage and maintain all mail transfers automatically, a built in
  54. communications program that can automatically write your logon scripts, allows
  55. the handling of private and encrypted mail without lengthy security or ID
  56. numbers that have little meaning, Hub software is built in, allows you to add
  57. your BBS's Tagline, and many many other useful and needed features.  An added
  58. bonus for RoseMail is that it is also an OFFLINE QWK mail door!

  60.      AccessNet has many different types of BBS systems in our network.  As a
  61. result, we have a diverse group of SysOps that make up AccessNet.  PostLink
  62. currently costs $50.00.  My suggestion is that if you do not already own a
  63. copy of PostLink  DON'T buy it!!  RoseMail is a much better system and it is
  64. FREE software (see above).
